In an address to the General Synod of the Church of England, the Archbishop of the Anglican Episcopal Church, Dr. Sāmī Fawzī, expressed that same-sex marriage conflicts with the teachings of Christianity. He drew attention to resolution 10:1 from the 1998 Lambeth conference, which expressed the position of the Anglican Church against granting legitimacy or blessings to same-sex unions. Dr. Fawzī added that this ruling represented the faith of the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches, according to the teachings of the Bible, and that accepting such unions and marriages represented a red line which the Anglican Church would never cross.
