Water experts criticized Sudan’s former positions in negotiations with Egypt and Ethiopia over the Renaissance Dam, saying the positions amounted to political games as opposed to serving the country’s strategic interests.  These experts further warned that if the new government under the leadership of ʿAbd Allāh Ḥamdūk continues to pursue these positions, it will seriously harm Sudan’s water rights.
