During the celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the establishment of the Council of Egyptian Churches, Pope Tawādrūs described the Council as a blessing from God and a platform through which the churches can express themselves. The Council aims to unify the Christian churches in Egypt whilst also ensuring their own independence, in addition to discussing various socio-political issues, and facilitating dialogue between Muslims and Christians, and the different Christian denominations. The leadership of the Council rotates every two years between the different denominations, with the secretariat set to transfer to the Anglican Episcopal Church following the 10 year anniversary.
