Dutch Prime Minister Andreas van Agt, 1977-1982, visited Egypt in 2006 in support of the work of Arab-West Report, the Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Translation (CIDT) and the Center for Arab-West Understanding, an NGO then waiting for a approval by the Ministry of Social Solidarity which came in 2007. Mr. van Agt and Cornelis Hulsman met in 2006 with H.E. Amr Moussa, Secretary General of the League of Arab States. This meeting was attended by Mr. Hishām Yūsuf, Chief of the Cabinet of the Secretary General, League of Arab States. Mr. Hishām Yūsuf described Arab-West Report as “…an alternative to Western reporting about the Arab world through translations from the Arab media, is a challenging much needed effort. During the past few years, especially since the attacks of 11 September, the image of the Arab and Muslim worlds has been subject to serious damage partially due to deliberate attempts to distort this image but also due to the failure of Arabs and Muslims to properly convey their message to international public opinion.”
