We are very pleased to inform you about our revised Arab West Foundation website!

Earlier this month, the board of Arab-West Foundation asked Prof. Abdallah Schleifer, Prof. Herman Teule, Prof. Jan Opsal and Prof. Wolfram Reiss to become Senior Fellows of Arab West Foundation and we were greatly honored when they all agreed. All four scholars play a significant role in intercultural dialogue and have throughout the years actively supported our work, either through lectures, references to our work in their studies or otherwise. Please visit their profiles here. These are all non-Egyptian scholars. Egyptian supporters of our work are of course affiliated with to the Center for Arab-West Understanding.

AWF is a Dutch organization that cooperates with the Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Translation (CIDT Ltd.) and Center for Arab-West Understanding (CAWU) in Egypt. AWF also plays a broader role in Europe and the world. The Arab-West Foundation receives support from three European organizations that support dialogue and form a group of individual friends. These funds are used for the publication of Arab-West Report and special reports that help to create an understanding of developments and Muslim-Christian relations in Egypt, and thus, contribute to dialogue.

Our budget is not large and the destruction of our database on June 27 last year hampered our progress greatly. Luckily, since then most of our data has been restored. However, some loss was permanent – the AWF website, for example, was an older back-up. But patience and hard work has paid off and this website is up-to-date again!

We would very much like to see our circle of friends increase so that in tandem our capacity can also increase. We appreciate singular donations, but would greatly appreciate regular contributions, which would allow us to plan for future growth.  You can access our donation page here.

Our philosophy is simple: we reject all violence and incitement to violence; we advocate mutual understanding, and reject partisan positions in our wish to contribute to stability and economic growth in Egypt.

We have described our vision on dialogue here. This is not a one-sided statement and we appreciate any responses from you which would help us to strengthen our statement.

Please also visit our new section on studying in Egypt. The most important section of which is on our internships with CAWU, which, since 2006 has hosted over 130 interns from 25 different countries.
