Ṣahīfa

the word “Ṣahīfa” was also used in early Islamic generations, in the early collections of Hadith. Some of the companions were having Ṣahīfa, were having a document of a statement of the Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him.

Shahādah

First pillar of Islam. Declaration of faith.

Shahīd

witness or martyr. The term Shahid occurs frequently in the Qur'an where it means "witness." Only once it occurs with the meaning of  martyr, that is someone who died for his faith. Shahid as martyr acquires a wider use in the hadiths.

Egyptian spring festival that dates back to the Pharaohs.

In Islam: Islamic teacher, also used for an older respected man who has good knowledge of Islam. In Christianity: Elders in the Presbyterian Church. Plural:shuyūkh

Shirk

Polytheism- worship multiply gods/idols in addition to God. Strongly denounced in Islam.

Shīʿī

Is the person who belongs to the Shī‘ah, a branch of Islam. 

Shī‘ah

Refers to followers of cAli Ibn Abi Talib. Branch of Islam (Shiism).

Consultation, council of Islamic organization.

Plural of Shaykh

Sīrah

Biography of Prophet Muhammad. Refered to as “al-sīrah al-nabawīyah”.

Subū‘

The seventh day after birth of child, wedding, etc.

Sufi ṭarīqa

litt: Path.  This term refers to a religious fraternity following a particular school of Sufism -- the inner mystical dimension of Islam- with lines of initiation going back for many hundreds of years to the founding Shaykh (and ultimately to the Prophet) in which spiritual guidance is provided by the living shaykh who initiates members and leads the collective invocation of the Names of God which generally is the fundamental methodology (Definition of Sufi Muslim Prof. Abdallah Schleifer febr 6, 2016)

For Muslims women it is uncovering the face

Suḥūr

Dawn Meal, during Ramaḍān, before day of fasting.

Ṣulḥ

It means "peace" as opposed to war. It is derived from the same root as Arabic word musalaha meaning reconciliation. In Islamic Law it means an "amicable settlement."
