"Will the Ministry of Justice cancel the

hamayouni law?" asks the author. It is this law that

restricts the building of churches in Egypt. Lawyer Mamdouh

Nahla went to court to cancel the law, stating

that it should have been abolished with other Ottoman laws in 1873.

The law is also in violation of the

constitution of 1923. A ministerial committee has been formed to look into the

possibilities of changing the

law.
