I dearly appreciate what Hani Labib wrote in his book “Al-mowatna wal-Awlama: Al-Aqbat fi mogtama’ Motaghayyer” [Citizenship and Globalization: Copts in a Changing Society] at a time when many Egyptian writers, most of whom are Muslims, attempt to hit Egypt’s Arabism and dissociate it from belonging to the Arab World. When we compare the writings of these authors to the Hani’s writings on Egypt’s Arabism and Christians, we realize the difference between the two. Those who are against Arabism include Muslims and Christians, and those who believe in Arabism are both Muslims and Christians, and they make up the vast majority.
