The Coptic Church celebrated last Saturday at the monastery of the great St. Bishoy at Wadi Al-Natroun the Golden Jubilee of the monasticism of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III. The celebration was attended by priests, bishops and members of the Holy Council as well as by the Coptic community. On 18 July of the year 1954, Pope Shenouda set out for the desert, to Wadi Natroun. He went to the monastery to live his life as a monk, to pray and worship God alone.
