The imams charged by the Ministry of Endowments with lecturing people between prayers, limit their lectures to timeworn issues that do not relate to our current social concerns. This goes back to the rigid books taught at the Azhar University. The Ministry is also to be blamed for this because of its inane contests to designate incompetent graduates as imams. Furthermore, the training provided to newly designated imams is as useless as their educational background.
