The American University in Cairo warned a student she may be dismissed after she decided to wear the niqab and they prevented her from attending her classes. The student said that the administration of the University did not try to find a midway solution with her and just took this arbitrary decision. The Vice President of the University denied that the decision had any religious dimensions and said that he was first of all concerned with security. The official paper of the students devoted three successive issues about the strong reactions of students towards the decision of the University administration.
