A number of churches and archbishoprics in Sohag and Assyut have put up banners expressing their disapproval of the American pastor's plans for a "mass burning of the Koran" event. A human rights center in Kalioubiya criticized the Islamic World's delinquency regarding the issue and announced a lawsuit against Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas for burning a copy of the Qur'ān.
