Grand Muftī Dr. ‘Alī Jum‘ah answered a young man’s question regarding the validity of a marriage wherein the husband is unable to sexually perform and the bride-to-be is fully aware of the situation. The Mufti responded that marriage is not merely for sexual purposes, saying that it could be for many other reasons such as reproduction, abstinence from adultery, a man wanting to spend money on his wife, or companionship.
