Some followers of Sūfīsm have recently accused Salafī Muslims of attacking and destroying shrines belonging to Sūfī clerics in various parts of Egypt. During a protest organized by the Supreme Council for Sūfī Orders on Tuesday evening, March 29, Sūfī followers called on the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to denounce the demolition of the shrines. Their demonstration was joined by a number of Shi’ah leaders, who protested against on-going assaults from Salafī Wahhabism, which, they claim, shows no respect for other beliefs or religions.
