Shaykh Sayīd Faraj, a member of the al-Jamā'ah al-Islāmīyah, said some salafist groups in Cairo are penetrated by security agencies.

Faraj said he was referring to some salafists who were handing out flyers and brochures in al-Tahrīr Square that read disobedience of the ruler is harām (impermissible) and that all revolting young people are khawārij.

He added that Shaykh Usāmah al-Qūsī and all his followers "had played a role in supporting the unjust tyrannical former regime."
