Dr. 'Imād Jād, strategic expert in Al-Ahram center for Political and Strategic Studies, said that fitnah tā'ifīyah was planted from 30 years since al-Sadāt period until Mubārak. Now, however, there are a lot of Arab countries, one being Saudi Arabia, that have similar interests in sparking fitnah.

Saudi Arabia wants to prove that disobeying the ruler will force the country into a state of chaos, i.e. making a lesson out of Egypt.
