Meanwhile, Grand Shaykh of the Azhar Dr. Ahmad al-Tayyīb said the top Sunnī establishment is soon releasing a document indicating the rights of women as adopted by the Islamic sharī’ah (law), highlighting women’s interest in education.

“Islam has granted women rights that have not been included in other religious laws. The Azhar, as far as it is concerned, is not going to strip women of the privileges guaranteed by Islam,” said Tayyīb during a meeting on Wednesday (April 12) with Dr. Mirvat al-Talāwī, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM).
