The Shūrá Council commission led by Muhammad al-Fiqī, Chairman of the Council's Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, had visited Dahshūr in a bid to settle the disputes between Muslims and Copts there.

A rally comprising Muslim and Christian local residents, interior ministry officials and clerics was held to discuss the repercussions of the situation and find solutions to contain the sectarian crisis in the village.
