Rumors that a missing Muslim girl was hiding in a church after family members found hymns and special religious (Christian) books in her room has led to clashes in Kom Ombo. The events outside Saint George Church (Mār Jirgīs) of Kom Ombo left ten arrests and 27 injuries. The family of the girl has denied that any family members were in the vicinity of the Church during the protests outside it. Moreover they will not press charges against the church over the circumstances of her disappearance as others have encouraged them to do. ‘Alā' Tūnī, brother to the missing girl has described the events as a police failure (Hajjāj Salāmah, al-Wafd, Mar. 3, p. 3). Read original text in Arabic.
