In the first speech after swearing in, President al- Sīsī stated that being president of Egypt is a great honor and responsibility. He asked God to light his road and assist him to perform well as to satisfy Him.   He stated that throughout history Egypt did not witness a democratic transfer of authority or that a former president shakes hands with a new president which, however, now happened with the handshake of interim president Adli Mansour and al- Sīsī. He promised that the future period of construction shall witness a complete development in order to compensate for the time lost and correct mistakes of the past (Author not mentioned, al-Tahrīr,  June 9, p. 5)
