The Chinese community in Cairo has been continuously growing over the past years, as Chinese and the Egyptian political and economic relations are becoming steadily more intertwined. Last Friday, September 18, the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association and the Egyptian Friendship Organisation organised Cairo’s China Day in cooperation with the Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo and the Cairo Governorate, which was hosted in Cairo’s famous Azhar Park. The event took place in celebration of the important Chinese Mid-Autumn festival (which is traditionally celebrated according to the Chinese moon calendar, this year on September 27), China’s national holiday (on October 1^st) and the upcoming Eid Al-Adha, which is also of particular importance for the Chinese community, as estimated half of its members are Muslim (Egypt Independent).
