The annual Mawlid [Religious celebration] of the Holy Virgin in the Upper Egyptian village of al-Salāmīyah in the Qinā Governorate occurred amidst tensions and quarrels between young Muslim men of the village and some of the visitors. Security forces however, kept the situation under control.
