President of the National Council for Human Rights, Mr. Muḥammad Fāyiq, hosted a delegation from the Committee on International Religious Freedoms of the U.S. State Department in the Council’s headquarters in Giza today (Wednesday).

Member of the Parliament, Muḥammad ʿEsmat  al-Sādāt  was recently elected as the head of the Parliamentary Committee for human rights after winning 27 votes against Ayman Abū al-Ela, the member of the Free Egyptians party,  who only received 9 votes. 
Dr. Salāh Salām, a member of the National Council for Human Rights, said that Britain's inclusion of Egypt as a “country of concern” in its assessment of human rights is expected; pointing out that the current situation is not satisfactory to the Egyptians. 
The head of the Committee on Civil and Political Rights at the National Council for Human Rights, George Isḥāq, declined to comment on the British Foreign Office statement on the human rights situation in Egypt.
