Egypt’s Dār al-Iftā’ resumed sessions at mosques nationwide in coordination with the Ministry of Awqāf (Religious Endowments) as part of its awareness-raising role to spread moderate ways of thinking, rectify misconceptions and encounter some unfavorable phenomena within the society.
A senior scholar at Dār al-Iftāʾ, Dr. Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Samīʿ, said that smoking is ḥarām (religiously impermissible) and that working for companies selling cigarettes and tobacco is a sin.
