Dr. ʿAbd al-Munʿim Abū al-Futūḥ gives account to his rejection of the term "political Islam", his relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood and why he left the organisation. Furthermore, he sheds light on the political engagement of members of the MB and his rejection of dividing between so-called 'civil' and 'islamic' parties. The differences between followers of al-Tilmisānī and Quṭb are mentioned as well as his opinion on the split between a social-religious organisation of the MB and its political part.
This interview was part of an Arab-West Report project for a book on Islamist movements during the year 2013. Data collected were placed online in June 2016.
All interviewees gave their approval to publish the transcripts.
Length: 11 pages (pdf)
