As soon as Major General Hasan al-Rūwīnī, member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and Commander of Central Region Military forces, arrived he declared the following: "I will die in the location of that church if I won't be able to rebuild it. I fought in 67 and 73, all my life I didn't fail in any mission, and I can't fail in my current one."

Al-Rūwīnī decided to rebuild the church as soon as possible to calm down the situation.

It's worth mentioning that the church of Two Martyrs St. Mina and St. George was set on fire by angry Muslim young-men after seeing a Muslim girl with a Christian young-man called 'Āshraf Labīb.
