For a fifth consecutive day thousands of angry demonstrators in Qena governorate staged sit-ins to protest against the appointment of a Copt governor, on 14 april, Emad Shehata Mekhail. Protesters insiste they are not ready to repeat the experiment of a Copt governor. Magdi Ayoub, Qena's former governor, was subject to severe criticism. Even Copts were not supportive of Ayoub. They claimed that Ayoub discriminated Copts because he worried that he would be accused of favouring them. Some people have reservations on the way the governors were chosen, arguing that it was done in the same old fashioned way which does not reflect the spirit of the revolution.
