The Azhar, the Coptic Orthodox Church and political powers warned against "civil war" sparked by fitnah ta'fīyah incidents, while the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), salafists, Sufis, Jamā'ah Islamīyah (Islamic Group) all blamed the remnants of the former National Democratic Party (NDP) and accused it of involvement into those incidents.

Grand Shaykh of the Azhar Ahmad al-Tayīb called for an urgent meeting of the Egyptian Family House in a bid to end fitnah, while Muftī of the Republic 'Alī Jum'ah warned of a civil war due to the outlaws' infringements on the state dignity.

Dr. Muhammad al-Barād'ī called for a rapid decisive solution to the problem of "religious extremism and practices of the Medieval centuries," adding Egypt must be saved before it slides into an unfavorable pit.
