The military establishment is a "patriotic one and wants to return to its barracks," said 'Abd al-Mun'im Abū al-Futūh, a presidential hopeful and former member of the Muslim Brotherhood, terming the transitional government as "frail".

Abū al-Futūh called on Egyptians to keep "the wheel of production rolling once again so that the Egyptian economy and the tourist sector may be back on their feet again."

He underlined the importance of holding the parliamentary elections in two months' time at the most and under any electoral system so that production resumes, urging Egyptians to come out of the "whirlpools of the constitutional declaration and election systems."
