A number of activists launched yesterday on Facebook a campaign named “I am an Egyptian Muslim girl and will vote against those who deem my voice as Awrah” in objection to the dealings of some religious movements with particular issues, especially those that are related to women.
Participants in the campaign expressed their stance towards the Islamic movements during the coming elections that they refuse some of viewpoints of such movements that deem women voice as “Awrah” and democracy as “unlawful.” They pointed out that the right to citizenship which does not discriminate among citizens on any grounds including religion or gender should be respected.
Such campaign went along with a similar campaign in Tunisia named “I am a woman and my voice is Awrah and will vote against Ennahda Party” which was launched during the Tunisian elections.
