Egyptian novelist Nawāl al-Saʿdāwī spent several years struggling for women’s rights and demanding their liberation from social restraints.  Born in 1931, al-Saʿdāwī was a psychologist and feminist who made her way into literature, writing several books like “Memoirs of a Woman Doctor” and “The Fall of the Imam.”  Al-Saʿdāwī left this world on Sunday, March 21, 2021, after a battle with illness, leaving behind a history full of positions that were criticized due to their boldness and counter-cultural nature.
