After the attempted killing of the Coptic Kātrīn Ramzī in al-Warrāq, Giza, an extremist tried to slaughter a Coptic man in the same way in the district of al-Marj yesterday. A bearded man approached at his workshop and tried to kill him using a sharp cutter, throwing insults and abuse at the Copts and describing them as ‘the People of Lūṭ’ [from the sins of Sodom and and Gomoorrah]. The incident resulted in the owner suffering a 7 centimetre cut from his ear to his neck. The Copt was taken to hospital, and passers-by arrested the extremist who has since confessed to the event in front of al-Marj prosecution services.
