The current crisis in the Būdshīshiyya association [zāwiya] has raised many deep questions about the nature of administrative intervention in Ṣūfi affairs and whether some of the sides are exploiting royal directives and holy authority for commanding the faithful believers to achieve objectives that contradict with the wise vision of His Majesty King Muḥammad VI. His Majesty laid the cornerstone in a place for restructuring the religious field in his historic Tétouan [Ṭaṭwān] address on 8th April 2004 with the goal of enshrining a Moroccan religious model of tolerance that is in line with the spirit of modernity. Today, question marks have arisen around whether this inspired vision translates into belief in the real world or if it imposes administrative interpretations that could empty it of its spiritual and epistemic essence.
