Initiative for Egyptian Personal Rights calls on the President to codify requirements for churches and religious buildings  

The Initiative for Egyptian Personal Rights said that tensions and sectarian attacks, witnessed in the Minyā Governorate in recent days have hindered the practice of religion at one of the registered churches. Attacks have stemmed from the desire to build and renovate churches in the area. The customary laws require that religious buildings be built with the agreement of the community; however the recent complications with the system have led to calls to amend the system to allow churches to be built in accordance with the freedom of religious practice under the Egyptian Constitution.
