Monica Hanna [Monica Ḥannā], a member of Egypt's Heritage Task Force, responded to a statement by the Ministry of Antiquities on the collapse of parts of the northern wall of the ancient church, referring to the words of Dr. Abū Bakr ʿAbd Allāh, Vice President of the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish Antiquities Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, who indicated that the condition of the monastery is stable. Monica Ḥannā claimed that this is completely incorrect because of the ongoing collapses, and that it was not the outer wall of the White Monastery that collapsed as Dr. Abū Bakr ʿAbd Allāh stated, but that the collapse occurred on the northern wall of the ancient church.
