Considerable debate has arisen regarding the application ‘My Heritage’ which has recently gained popularity throughout social media sites. Through the app, users can move the face and features of a photo image, and many have been using it to animate photos of their deceased relatives to make them appear to be once again moving in front of them.

‘My Heritage’ can be located amongst the most popular browser searchers in many different countries, particularly in Egypt and other countries of the Arab world. There have been mixed reactions, with some rejecting the idea of making the dead “move” as they consider it to be offensive and a violation of the sanctity of the dead, whilst others consider it simply an attempt to once again be with their lost loved ones, even if for only a moment.
