Interview Script (Documentation)

Interviewee: Tunisian humanitarian activist

Interview setting: A private residence in Maadi, Cairo. The interview was conducted between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm on Tuesday morning July 17, 2018.

The interview was recorded. The transcript was made by Comfort Dickson. Editing was done for readability. Some explanatory text was added between brackets [ and] for explanation.  Other texts were added through email exchanges over the draft texts. These are placed between brackets [and] as well. The female activist agreed to publish this text online but removing all names that could trace this interview to her. Thus the name of her husband was replaced by ‘my husband.’ Similar constructions were used to remove other names as well. The reason for this is that it is a hard story to accept for some people in her environment. The text was then presented to the interviewee for approval. The Dutch woman mentioned in the text played an important role in her life. She too has read the text and provided feedback which has been incorporated in this text.
