Sāra ʿAllām, the reporter for the Coptic matters to al-Yawm al-Sābiʿ, has revealed details of his holiness Pope Tawādrūs II’s announcement on the use of Communion spoons and the spread of Coronavirus in a new ‘Live’ broadcast on the Instagram page of al-Yawm al-Sābiʿ. This came after Pope Tawādrūs announced that it may be possible to adapt this custom, as church rituals are not rigid or intellectually derived, but rather result from customs handed down from previous generations. This statement was rejected by Bishop Aghāthūn of Maghāgha in a sermon yesterday.
