Holding the conference on freedom of expression at the same time of the second annual

conference of the National Democratic Party is a mere coincidence. The difference between the

official view of reformation and what the Arab intellectuals aim at, is clear. Each view seems as

if it is related to different societies. One is concerned with problems like construction on

agricultural land, reducing customs and taxes. The other society is concerned with issues like

canceling the emergency law, checking the elections’ lists and amending the constitution. The

question is: Could there be a serious and fruitful combination of both views?
