The Coptic Orthodox Community Council announced its disappointment at some of its members who are running for parliament. The council yesterday separated themselves from ‘Īsá Girgis, who earlier alleged that the council disapproved of Coptic resentment towards the National Democratic Party for selecting a Protestant rather than Orthodox candidate in Alexandria. Girgis claimed to represent the Coptic Orthodox Community Council, but a statement issued by the council confirmed that Girgis is not authorized to speak on their behalf.
