A Coptic citizen has brought a case to the Court of Administrative Justice against Pope Shenouda III and Bishop Bula, who has been commissioned to head the Clerical Council on Personal Affairs, for granting his ex-wife permission to re-marry.

The man argues that the conditions for a church divorce had not been met. The ex-wife had previously brought a case for divorce in a civil court.

In his submission, the man said that granting his former wife a second marriage permit means that he is sexually impotent, although he had been granted a certificate proving his sexual adequacy by the physician of the Clerical Council.
