The Egyptian Minister of Culture Dr. Fārūq Husnī and Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Dr. Zāhī Hawwās opened the very first exhibition of Coptic art at Prince Tāz’s palace in Cairo. The opening was attended by many leading Muslim, Coptic and prominent figures of Cairo’s cultural and artistic scene.

The exhibition, which is titled “Unveiling Coptic Art”, highlights the Coptic contribution to Egypt’s diverse heritage. It forms a part of the one hundredth year celebration of the Coptic Museum, established by Marqus Sumaykah Pāshā in 1910.

The exhibition entails a unique combination of 200 rare pieces gathered from numerous different museums.
