Salafist preacher, Wajdī Ghunaym, gave a speech in a mosque in Qalyubia April 5, 2011 in which he attacked the Azhar and the ministry of Awqaf for building relations with Copts and refusing to segregate between Muslims and Copts.

Ghunaym told the worshipers not to greet Copts. He added, that Copts should not be allowed to walk in front of Muslims, crosses above churches should be removed, and speaking out religious rituals in churches, such as bell ringing, should be banned.
