Assembly in front of houses of worship has recently fuelled some deplorable incidents that the need arose for a law banning and criminalizing protests off those sacred places.
Dr. Āminah Nusayr, a professor of Islamic philosophy at the Azhar University, said the Muslim faith held in high esteem all places of worship and made it incumbent on man to respect and venerate them.
“It is not right to that slogan-chanting and protests should be taking place in front of any houses of worship,” she said, adding the nation’s unity, security and stability are vital things. “There has to be deterring measures against any persons protesting in front of those holy places.
Dr. Hāmid Abū Tālib, the former dean of the sharī’ah and law college, the Azhar University, said the assembly of youths in front of churches or mosques stirs sentiments and could augur ill as far as outbreak of violence is concerned.
