The evidence in convicting Mubārak included the testimony of Major General 'Umar Sulaymān, Deputy President and former chief of intelligence, who assured the involvement of the ousted president in killing protesters.

He assured that Mubārak assigned the Military forces and intelligence in following up the protests and the status of protesters. Sulaymān was receiving hourly reports from Habīb al-'Adlī, former Minister of Interior Affairs, and transferred these reports to the president.

These reports contained information including shooting live ammunition on protesters in an attempt to foil the revolution. He added that the president knew of this information and did not object.
