In his column in Akhbār al-Yawm newspaper, Muhammad 'Abd al-Qudūs, commenting on the sectarian incidents in the impoverished district of Imbābah, says that there has been severe attacks on the salafists as if they were responsible for all of Egypt's ailments and problems.

He called for fairness among all groups in the society so that the salafists would not become the whipping boys in each and every problem in the country.
