During a rally for the presidential candidate 'Amr Mūsá, he stated that Egypt is an Islamic state and should be thus ruled by sharī'ah, under Article 2 of the Constitution, which he would follow if he came to power.

He stressed the importance of maintaining equality between citizens and denounced the use of emergency law.

He also mentioned that he is still studying the Treachery Act to form an opinion on it.
