Rev. Dr. Andrea Zakī, vice-president of the Coptic Evangelical Church, and General Director of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS), denied that Copts are persecuted in Egypt and added that the ousted president's regime ignited sectarian tension.

Furthermore, he believes that Copts had contributed in being marginalized by not actively participating in the political life.
