‘Āsim ‘Abd al-Mājid, leading member of Jamā‘a al-Islāmiyyah, revealed that the majority of the group, especially jīl al-Wasat, don't support forming a political party, and whoever put this idea forward is presenting his personal point of view. 

He denied that the group is taking any procedures toward forming a party. The idea is still being discussed, and most likely is going to be rejected.

'Abd al-Mājid believes that it is better to focus on the da'wah and building the correct standards in the community. In addition, the da'wah is why the group exists and he doesn't want it to be affected by political work.
