On the other hand, an official source said the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) is likely to issue a complementary constitutional declaration that would set the powers of the president a few days ahead of handover of power to an elected head of state.

The step is expected after the runoff round of the presidential election that will see Egyptians choosing either Husnī Mubārak’s last prime minister, Ahmed Shafīq, or the Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate Muhammad Mursī.
